Distribution and polarization of agNAT6 and agNAT8 in the alimentary canal of mosquito larvae.
The top two panels represent relative immunolabeling of whole-mount preparations of the isolated gut, and a reconstruction diagram. On the diagram, green dotted lines denote the exact location of transport mechanisms and arrows represent transport directions which indicate; match, green arrows; mismatch, red arrows; and none overlapping areas in the transport directions for agNAT6 and agNAT8, respectively. The bottom two panels show high resolution labeling patterns obtained using frozen section preparations. Abbreviations : PMG- posterior midgut; AMG- anterior midgut; GC- gastric caeca; SG- salivary gland; MT- Malpighian tubules; pm- peritrophic membrane; cm- caecal membrane; A/B plus arrow marks indicate apical and basal membranes, respectively.
