Congratulations to Alexis Lanza on her new scientific journalism article!
Alexis Lanza, a Ph.D. student in the Seaver lab recently completed a journalism internship with the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB). Lanza was 1 of 4 students who were awarded a learning opportunity on how to communicate a scientific topic to the general public. Her article detailed work by Dr. Sewall on the relationship between cognition and family size in zebra finches.
Lanza notes that this opportunity, although challenging, was very rewarding in terms of the experience she has gained. She believes that having the ability to recount scientific research in the form a story is an invaluable skill for her career. Due to her experience, Lanza encourages anyone who has a genuine interest in scientific writing to apply for this opportunity.
