Welcome Whitney’s Summer Undergrad Research Interns! (NSF REU Program)
The Whitney Laboratory Research Experience for Undergraduate Program (REU) sponsored by the National Science Foundation and Whitney, offers an exceptional opportunity for motivated undergraduates to participate in scientific research in individual laboratories.
The 11 week course will conclude August 11th with a final talk and poster presentation of individual research projects. One of the REU undergraduates will be awarded a full travel stipend to attend a national conference and present their research.
Students are joining us this year from Daemen College, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Kenyon College, Washington College, Eckerd College, Humboldt State University, Pitzer College, and Washington and Lee University.
The program is targeted to students who are first generation college students, or whose home university may not have the extensive scientific/laboratory training available. Our 29 year old REU program this year had over 220 applicants for the 8 positions available this summer. We welcome them to fun and intensive summer research here at Whitney!
