Please welcome Dr. Danielle de Jong back to Whitney Laboratory! She joins Dr. Christine Schnitzler’s lab as lab manager and will work with members of the Schnitzler lab as they research various questions regarding regeneration and cell biology in the cnidarian, Hydractinia

Danielle received her PhD from James Cook University in Australia in 2005, and since then has worked in labs in Australia, Germany and the United States.  Her most recent postdoctoral role with Dr. Elaine Seaver at the Whitney lab ended in 2017, after which she took some time off to spend at home with her new baby daughter. She transitioned to teaching in 2019 as an Adjunct Professor at Flagler College in St. Augustine, but is now excited to rejoin the research environment at the Whitney Laboratory. In her spare time she enjoys any outdoor activities such as hiking, camping and fishing, but these days spends most of her time chasing a toddler around.
