Please welcome Kent Winata to the Whitney Laboratory! Kent joined the Schnitzler Lab as a Ph.D. student.
Kent is from Medan, Indonesia. He did his B.A. in Biology and M.A. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Kansas in the Cartwright Lab. For his Master's thesis, he studied comparative transcriptomics and ecophysiology on the freshwater jellyfish, Craspedacusta sowerbii. Here at the Schnitzler Lab, he plans to continue researching on Cnidarian regeneration and stem cells using comparative biology on Hydractinia to understand how the mechanisms differ between each Cnidarian. Outside the lab, he enjoys playing games, playing with his cats, reading, and drawing.
