Welcome to our newest team member fall intern, Jori Geib!

Jori grew up in Sparks, Nevada and despite living in Truckee Meadows, the Carson and Virginia Mountain Ranges, and the Sierra Nevada mountains has had a passion for marine life specifically sea turtles from an early age. It was a trip to Hawaii during her teenage years that turned her passion into goals of making it a career. Jori set a goal and graduated from Coastal Carolina University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Science. While in undergrad she had the opportunity to attend a Maymester at the Pacuare Reserve in Costa Rica assisting in the conservation efforts at the reserve. At the reserve she was able to work with Leatherback sea turtles throughout the nesting process and conducted research on the thermodynamics of nesting leatherbacks. Jori is excited to learn everything she can about sea turtle medicine and rehabilitation and is looking forward to helping The Sea Turtle Hospital at Whitney Lab during their washback season.
