Please welcome Emily Skinner to the Whitney Laboratory! Emily is a Ph.D. student in the Duffy Lab.
Emily earned her B.S. in Marine Science from the University of South Carolina, and her M.S. in Marine Biology from James Cook University in Australia. Her master's thesis focused on the development of eDNA monitoring techniques for identifying hawksbill sea turtle presence in water samples. She also has a keen interest in sea turtle health and disease research after working with sea turtle rehabilitation organizations throughout her degree programs. Her PhD research will continue the development of eDNA monitoring methods for sea turtles, as well as investigate diseases affecting sea turtle populations. Outside the lab, Emily enjoys going to Disney, reading, and baking.
