Please welcome Andrew Vasey to the Whitney Laboratory! Andrew is a Ph.D. student in the Loesgen Lab.
Andrew earned his BSc in Marine Biology from the University of Washington and was awarded the NSF GRFP in 2025. His PhD research will focus on deciphering the chemical signaling involved in the establishment and specificity of Cnidarian-Dinoflagellate symbioses, the biology underlying their thermal tolerance, and the role of other members of the coral microbiome.
Outside of the Lab, Andrew enjoys diving, climbing, and hiking.
