Sea Turtle Hospital Welcomes Gracie Harris

Please join the hospital in welcoming Gracie Harris to UF Whitney Laboratory. Gracie has joined our team as an Animal Care Technician.

Gracie is a St. Augustine native who grew up emersed in marine life from a young age. As a child she visited multiple sea turtle hospitals (including here at Whitney) and developed the dream of one day working in sea turtle rehabilitation.

She went on to get a B.S in Marine and Coastal Biology from the University of North Florida where she was also involved in shark tagging and alligator population surveys. She volunteered with a local sea turtle nesting team and worked as an aquarist at a local aquarium. Gracie has also volunteered and interned at the Sea Turtle Hospital at Whitney Lab. Most Recently she has worked at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center as a rehabilitation technician, working with all Georgia native reptiles including sea turtles, semi-aquatic turtles, terrestrial turtles, alligators, and snakes.

Gracie is passionate about working with her community to better educate the public on marine life and conservation. When she’s not working, she enjoys embroidery, reading, beach combing, and spending time with friends and family.
