We’re excited to share a major milestone for the Sea Turtle Hospital at the Whitney Lab—we’ve officially received our new patient tanks!
Thanks to a generous grant from the Sea Turtle Grants Program supporting our project, “Expanding Capacity for Sea Turtle Rehabilitation in Northeast Florida,” seven custom-designed fiberglass tanks were delivered last week. This includes a 15-foot oblong feature tank with a viewing window, along with six additional tanks designed to meet the unique needs of our patients.
These new tanks mark a significant step forward in our ability to care for sea turtles. They will increase our patient capacity while also strengthening our quarantine capabilities for debilitated and critical cases.
This delivery brings us one step closer to welcoming our sea turtle patients to their upgraded facility. The tanks will work in tandem with our state-of-the-art Life Support System (LSS).
