The Evenings at Whitney Lecture Series continues Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 6 p.m. with the program titled “Sea Turtle and Marine Mammal Health Assessments: Insights into Marine Ecosystem Health”. Dr. Annie Page, Associate Research Professor and Clinical Veterinarian at Florida Atlantic University Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, will be the speaker.

This free lecture will be presented in person at the UF Whitney Laboratory Lohman Auditorium, 9505 Ocean Shore Boulevard, in St. Augustine. Those interested also have the option of registering to watch via Zoom live the night of the lecture.

The talk will cover health assessments of wild sea turtles, dolphins, and whales, and will include examples of current and recently completed research projects from our Marine Wildlife Veterinary Medicine & Research Program at FAU Harbor Branch.

Dr. Annie Page is an Associate Research Professor & Clinical Veterinarian at Florida Atlantic University Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. She also serves as the Harbor Branch Associate Director of Education and is Co-Director of the Marine Science & Oceanography Master’s Program. She is the Clinical Veterinarian for the Harbor Branch Marine Mammal Stranding, Health & Rehabilitation program, and provides veterinary services for the Harbor Branch campus. Dr. Page earned her DVM from the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011, where she focused on aquatic animal medicine and diagnostic pathology within the Public/Corporate Health track. In 2015, Dr. Page earned her Ph.D. in Veterinary Pathology from the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine. Throughout the course of her career she has developed expertise in wildlife medicine and rehabilitation, molecular diagnostics, disease ecology, and veterinary pathology, and has covered topics such as conservation biology, environmental and public health, microbiology, immunology, toxicology, and genomics.
