Live & Work

Whitney Laboratory is uniquely located near the Atlantic Ocean and Intracoastal Waterway, which creates endless outdoor activities for those living and working at the lab.

The Whitney Laboratory is more than just a research facility; we are an academic community. We regularly host an assortment of academic and cultural events including the Evenings at the Whitney lecture series, Journal Club/Data Club presentations, student symposia, concerts, fundraisers, lab soccer games and weekly “Pau Hana” socials.

The Whitney Laboratory is an ideal place to live and work. Our beautiful coastal location offers many nearby opportunities for students and researchers to explore Florida’s many natural treasures. Nature trails, ecotours, fishing, beach access can all be found within walking distance of the Whitney campus. Also, St. Augustine, the nation’s oldest city, is located nearby, which offers many historic experiences. Many of our residents take advantage of the farmer’s market held every Sunday in the adjacent marina, where you can find everything from local produce and seafood to handmade arts and crafts. If you’re hungry for some of the local fare, there are several beachside restaurants that are only a short drive away.
