Mural Then/Now
Whitney Laboratory Archives - The colorful 6 x 18 foot underwater mural currently hanging in the lab's Center for Marine Studies hallway was created in 1992 as a collaboration between Tom Hsiao, a Whitney Lab scientist who studied the regulation of spawning cycles in fish, and Patricia Ahearn, a member of the St Augustine Art Association. Then Whitney Lab Director Dr. Michael Greenberg provided the supplies for the large marine painting and the artists generously donated their time and talent - taking only four weeks to complete!

2007 - Whitney Laboratory Center for Marine Studies (CMS) building dedication
Whitney Laboratory Archives - The 17,000-square-foot, two-story building houses our K-12 education programs, features the 272-seat Lohman auditorium for community events like our Evenings at Whitney public lecture series, and has reception, meeting and classroom space - all overlooking the Matanzas estuary.
2015 - Sea Turtle Hospital at UF Whitney Laboratory Opens
Whitney Laboratory Archives - The Sea Turtle Hospital at UF Whitney Lab opens with the mission to promote ocean awareness and conservation through sea turtle rehabilitation, research, and education.
2017/2018 Whitney Laboratory Research Village
Whitney Laboratory Archives - December 2, 2017 - The groundbreaking ceremony for the Research Village at Whitney Laboratory took place. One year and a few days later we held the ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony! The Research Village is the lab's on-site housing for students and visiting scientists featuring six coastal-style cottages with 24-bed capacity.
