We are thrilled to announce the 9th annual Science by the Shore Symposium, hosted by the graduate students at the University of Florida’s Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience! We invite you to join us on Saturday, March 7th, for a day filled with scientific discussion and networking opportunities.

Who's Invited: Undergraduates, graduate students, post-docs, and all trainee-level scientists . All disciplines welcome; last year's presentations addressed ecology, molecular biology, chemistry, computer science, and more!

What's Happening: A keynote address from Dr. Michelle Gaither of UCF will kick off this trainee-focused conference, where you are invited to hone your professional scientific communication skills and showcase your research by presenting either a poster or by giving a talk. In more detail, those presentation options are:

  • Full Talks: 8 minutes + 2 minutes Q&A
  • Lightning Talks: 3 minutes + 2 minutes Q&A
  • Posters: Dimensions (maximum) 46x46

Beyond the Science: Located in the pristine estuary ecosystem of Marineland, just south of St. Augustine, the Whitney Lab is a beautiful site to visit, and you will have the opportunity to see some of the behind-the-scenes the work being done here. Breakfast and lunch will also be provided, included in the $30 registration fee.

(Optional) Competitions: Awards will be given for best poster, full talk, and lightning talk, as voted by the attendees.
