Sea Turtle Hospital at UF Whitney Laboratory Veterinarian Dr. Brooke Burkhalter and Sea Turtle Hospital Manager Devon Ramia recently attended the 1st RACE-certified Sea Turtle Medicine Workshop hosted by Southeast Regional Sea Turtle Network & Sea Turtle Care & Conservation Specialists in Hollywood, Florida at the Marine Environmental Education Center at the Carpenter House (MEEC).
Dr. Burkhalter presented on challenges with Fibropapilloma (FP) management and prioritizing the patient’s quality of life. This workshop allowed a platform for veterinary care professionals to gather and discuss the daily struggles and successes of sea turtle medicine. Licensed DVM’s, certified veterinary technicians, and rehab staff across the southeast network joined to workshop challenges, techniques, and new solutions in sea turtle medicine.
