Please welcome Martin Winn to the Whitney Lab! He joins the Schnitzler Lab as an Undergraduate Researcher.
Martin is from West Palm Beach, Florida. He is currently completing his B.A. in Biology with a minor in Astronomy at the University of Florida. Martin Interned at the Mayo Clinic where he studied epigenetics of TBX2 overexpression in relationship to cancer using multi-omics bioinformatic techniques such as ATAC and ChIP sequencing. Translating these skills to the Schnitzler Lab, he plans to research Hydractinia symbiolongicarpus epigenetically to understand the transcriptional modifiers and regulator elements that contribute to its regeneration, innate immunity, and cellular senescence.
Outside of the Lab, Martin enjoys attending raves, playing video games, reading, creating digital and traditional art, cooking, running, and calisthenics.
