Sea Turtle Hospital Awarded Grant From Florida Sea Turtle Grants Program to Support New Turtle Tanks

We are thrilled to announce that the Sea Turtle Hospital at Whitney Lab has received a generous grant from the Sea Turtle Grants Program to “Expand the Capacity for Sea Turtle Rehabilitation in Northeast Florida”. This funding will support the purchase of six to eight custom-designed fiberglass tanks for our new patient deck—each one purpose-built to meet the unique needs of our sea turtle patients.

These tanks will not only increase our capacity to care for more turtles, but also enhance our quarantine protocols for debilitated patients. As we prepare to move into the new Whitney Marine Research Institute Building and Sea Turtle Hospital—slated to open in Fall 2025—this upgrade represents a major step forward. The tanks will complement our state-of-the-art Life Support System (LSS), which is still actively seeking funding for its final components.

This impactful grant was made possible by the Sea Turtle Grants Program, funded through sales of the Florida Sea Turtle License Plate. To learn more, visit www.helpingseaturtles.org.
