Whitney Lab Campus Sustainability

Did you know 45% of the Whitney Laboratory is powered by solar energy?

The Whitney Laboratory recently received recognition for their commitment to a clean energy future through Florida Power & Light SolarTogether, a program that allows the lab to use solar energy and support the expansion of solar in Florida.

The UF Office of Sustainability provided guidance to the Whitney Laboratory in their subscription to the FPL SolarTogether program. With a 330 kW offsite solar array and a 10.7 kW onsite array, the Whitney Lab is supporting campus sustainability and clean energy in Florida, while advancing research into coastal ecosystem health and resiliency. Participating in this program helps strengthen Florida’s resilience, energy independence, and long-term economic vitality.
