SCIENCE BY THE SHORE SYMPOSIUM 2024
On Saturday, September 14 the Whitney Graduate Student Association (WGSA) Events Planning Committee hosted the 8th Science by the Shore Symposium.
Participants included 88 students and trainees from the University of Florida, Flagler College, University of North Florida, Florida Gateway College and the University of Central Florida. Undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral research associates and other trainees joined us at the Whitney Laboratory Center for Marine Studies building for a day filled with scientific exploration and networking opportunities.
The keynote speaker was invertebrate evolutionary developmental biologist Dr. Frank Smith from the University of North Florida.
During the day several participants presented their research during regular and lightning talks or shared their posters. Martindale Lab graduate student Raul Chavarria was awarded 1st place for their lightning talk. Thank you to UF Research for supporting this event and Whitney Laboratory staff and students who helped make the event a big success!
