Bailey-Niblett Family Endowment Helps Fund Trip to the Pan American Society for Evolutionary Developmental Biology Biennial Meeting

The Bailey-Niblett Family Endowment recently helped fund Raul Chavarria's trip to the Pan American Society for Evolutionary Developmental Biology 2025 Biennial Meeting at the University of Miami. The mission of the society is to promote the study of evolutionary developmental biology in all organisms and provide a forum for establishing collaboration, communication and promoting education in the field of evolutionary developmental biology.

"This meeting was my first as a graduate student at Whitney Laboratory and gave me a chance to start presenting my projects in a professional setting. I was given the opportunity to present a poster, 'Investigating the link between the wound response and initiation of regeneration in Ctenophora'. The experience helped me receive feedback on my current project and come back to the lab with new ideas. The meeting was a great chance to interact with a broad community of scientists who share a common goal.”

Raul Chavarria is a Ph.D. student in the Whitney Laboratory Martindale Lab. The Bailey-Niblett Family Endowment assists in funding for research projects and travel for graduate students, postdoctoral research associates and pre-tenured faculty at the Whitney Laboratory.
