Congratulations to Whitney Assistant Professor of Biology Dr. Joseph Ryan for receiving the University of Florida 2020 Graduate Education Diversity Champion Award! 

This award is presented annually to a UF faculty or staff member who has excelled in promoting diversity and inclusivity in the university environment through their positive interactions with others in graduate education.

This award recognizes faculty or staff members who have enhanced and contributed to the overall graduate environment by actively and positively promoting the concept of diversity and improving cross-cultural understanding and inclusivity.

"Thank you so much Joe for all the opportunities and support you have given to students from underrepresented backgrounds in science and helping us build and grow our UF chapter of the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science!" said Whitney Graduate Student Association Vice President and Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science UF Chapter Founding President Alexandra Hernandez.

Dr. Ryan is the founding UF chapter adviser for the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science
