Please welcome Dr. Narges Mashkour to Whitney Laboratory! She recently joined Dr. David Duffy's Lab as a Postdoctoral Research Associate.
Dr. Narges was born in Shiraz, the wine city of Iran, and did her undergraduate and master's there. She worked on primary cultures from house geckos to propagating influenza viruses for poultry vaccines. She gained interest in reptilian viruses and chose to go to Australia to work on the presence and impact of viruses in sea turtles foraging the Great Barrier Reef. During her Ph.D. she found a papillomavirus that might be associated with the FP disease along with the known herpesvirus. She joined the Duffy lab to continue working on the genetics behind FP and the possible roles of this papillomavirus. She loves working with viruses obviously but also enjoys sketching, crafting, cooking, and beach walking.
