Congratulations to the Liao Lab, which has a new publication in Hearing Research entitled “A non-toxic dose of cobalt chloride blocks hair cells of the zebrafish lateral line.” The work was spearheaded by Dr. William Stewart and aided by Dr. Jacob Johansen, both postdoctoral research associates in the Liao Lab. Led by Dr. James Liao, associate professor of biology, they identified a way to chemically silence hair cells that are important for the understanding human hearing and deafness disorders. Dr. Liao’s lab is funded by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.
