Congratulations to previous Loesgen lab members and Dr. Sandra Loesgen for a new paper titled ""Biolayer interferometry provides a robust method for detecting DNA binding small molecules in microbial extracts."

DNA binding small metabolites from microorganisms are often potent anti-cancer drug leads, many developed into clinical used chemotherapeutics like the breast cancer medication Adriamycin. In this study, previous graduate student Ross and postdoc Birte used a biosensor approach to accelerate the detection of DNA binding metabolites within bacterial extracts.
