Please join us for in celebrating Whitney Laboratory Postdocs and the contributions they make to the lab, U.S. research and discovery! Today we spotlight a postdoc in the Loesgen Lab.
Dr. Annika Jagels joined the Loesgen Lab in 2020. Annika received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in food chemistry from the University of Muenster, Germany, in 2014 and 2016, respectively. She completed her PhD in 2019 under the mentorship of Prof. Humpf in Muenster and studied the secondary metabolism of filamentous fungi, e.g. Stachybotrys spp. by applying isolation and structure elucidation tools. Annika is fascinated by natural products and is looking forward to identifying novel small molecules from filamentous fungi using gene activation experiments and metabolomics approaches. Moreover, she is interested in molecular biology and is looking forward to gaining new insights and technologies at Whitney Laboratory.
