Please welcome Taryn Chaya back to Whitney Lab!
Taryn returns to the Osborne Lab to pursue a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Ecology, with a concentration in Soil, Water, and Ecosystem Sciences. After graduating from Flagler College with a B.A. in Coastal Environmental Science, Taryn completed her M.S. degree in Soil and Water Sciences here at the Whitney Laboratory. She deployed several YSI EXO2 water quality instruments throughout the Intracoastal Waterway to study the effects of urbanization on water quality. After earning her degree, she spent 3 months WWOOFing up the U.S. east coast to Maine and subsequently began working for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe in Ignacio, Colorado. There, she managed water quality projects relevant to the Animas River Watershed and the Bonita Peak Mining District.
Taryn enjoys crocheting, baking, and adoring her cat, Charlotte, in her free time. In the lab, she hopes to continue researching the effects of development on soil and water quality.
