Whitney Laboratory is pleased to announce that Roxane R. Kennedy has joined its Board of Trustees. Kennedy brings extensive experience to the board while also being a fellow Gator, graduating from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.
Kennedy recently retired from Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) as vice president of power generation operations, having worked with the company for more than 40 years. She began at FPL as a laboratory technician at the Putnam plant and worked her way up. In her most recent position with FPL before retiring, Kennedy was responsible for the operations and maintenance of all non-nuclear power plant generation in Florida.
Kennedy’s interests and goals align with Whitney Laboratory’s mission. Her interests as a Whitney Laboratory Board of Trustees member include promoting science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education as well as environmental conservation and human health solutions. She will spearhead the Putnam County Whitney on the River event.
Besides volunteering her time with Whitney Laboratory, Kennedy is also active in the community as a board member of Girls in Focus Today (G.I.F.T.) and the United Way of Putnam County.
