Please welcome Dr. Urvashi Goswami to the Whitney Laboratory! Urvashi recently joined the Ryan Lab as a Postdoctoral Associate.
Urvashi has a background in zoology especially in evolutionary biology. She completed her bachelor’s and master’s from India and received the Indo-Hungarian fellowship for her Ph.D., at the Veterinary Medical Research Institute, Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Hungary. During her Ph.D., she focused on the myxozoan parasites (Cnidarian parasites) of freshwater fishes in both India and Hungary. Following her PhD, she pursued a postdoctoral position at Tel Aviv University, Israel, where she worked on evolutionary changes in metabolic pathways in Myxozoa. During her time at Whitney, Urvashi aims to delve into evolutionary aspects of the nervous system in ctenophores, likely building upon her previous work and expanding into new areas of study.
Outside the lab, Urvashi enjoys nature walks, reading and painting.
