Schnitzler Lab welcomes Dr. Jingwei Song

Please welcome Dr. Jingwei Song to Whitney Laboratory! He recently joined Dr. Christine Schnitzler's Lab as a Postdoctoral Research Associate.

Dr. Jingwei Song is a native of Shanghai, China. He received his Ph.D. in 2020 from Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS), College of William & Mary. For his dissertation, he studied metabolic physiology, comparative transcriptomics, and population genomics of spotted seatrout (Cynoscion nebulosus). He then moved to Gainesville, Florida, where he worked on comparative transcriptomics of hard clams (Mercenaria mercenaria and Mercenaria campechiensis) with Dr. Huiping Yang at the University of Florida. At Whitney Laboratory, he will be joining Dr. Christine Schnitzler’s lab and investigating stem cell heterogeneity in Hydractinia. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, playing soccer, and taking care of his many house plants.
