Sea Turtle Hospital Welcomes Summer Intern Bridget Ausley

Please welcome Bridget Ausley to Whitney Laboratory! She recently joined the Sea Turtle Hospital as the summer husbandry/education intern.

Bridget is a rising senior at University of Florida majoring in Marine Science with a minor in Zoology. Her passion for wildlife and exploring the oceans started young. In 2012 and 2013 she was a volunteer for St. Johns County Habitat Conservation Plan and conducted bi-monthly beach patrols during sea turtle washback season, while collecting and documenting beach debris.

Last summer she was a seasonal Field Technician for St. Johns County Habitat Conservation Plan and assisted in creating a safe nesting habitat for sea turtles and data collection for seasonal nesting reports. She is currently an active Ocean Lifeguard on the St. Johns County Fire Rescue Team.

With the thought of applying for grad school after graduating she wanted to gain more experience working around marine life in a veterinary setting. She is very excited about joining our team for the summer and is looking forward in helping us promote ocean awareness and conservation through sea turtle rehabilitation, research, and education; and to encourage individuals to be stewards of the natural environment.
