On February 24 Sea Turtle Program Manager Catherine Eastman presented to a classroom of eager students from Rymfire Elementary as part of the Scientist in Every Florida School program. Her thirty minute talk focused on different species of sea turtles, how the Sea Turtle Hospital at Whitney Laboratory treats sea turtle patients, and how sea turtles are unique reptiles.

The classroom of almost thirty kindergarteners eagerly waited their turns to ask very detailed questions of their speaker. Some included, "how are sea turtles able to hold their breath under water for so long and how do they know they have to come up to the air to breathe?" Eastman said, “Many youngsters ask really complex questions that grownups often take for granted. Their minds are so primed for discovery!”
