Amelia Bunnell may have been born in Tallahassee, but don’t worry—she was born a Gator! Amelia graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida in August with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Zoology. Her thesis work was in Tom Bianchi's Organic Geochemistry Lab, where she tested solid-phase extraction cartridges on their ability to concentrate analytes while removing matrix interferences so that the samples could be analyzed with LCMS. Ask her about “Potterology: A Muggle’s Guide to Making Sense of the Magic,” the Harry Potter-themed chemistry course she developed and taught four times as a week-long course for incoming Honors freshmen and once as a semester-long course.
Amelia has just joined the Loesgen and Strother labs as a lab tech to help her decide what she wants to study in graduate school. She is excited to start this new chapter of her life in St. Augustine with her partner Phil and her dog Keesi.
