Please welcome Anna Thornton to Whitney Laboratory!

Anna has a Bachelor of Science from Stetson University with a focus in marine biology. In her undergrad career she focused her research on the aerial respiration of the juvenile armored catfish (Pterygoplichthys disjunctivus). Anna has volunteered with Whitney in the Liao lab for 7 months, but now joins the Osborne lab as Lab Manager. Anna will be helping the Osborne lab in lab functionality and research. Her main goal is to create a productive working environment for successful students and postdoctoral researchers.

Anna is passionate about the frailty of aquatic ecosystems and aiding in conservation of Florida's amazing waterways. She loves all things marine, but is truly passionate in her love for sharks. She has taken a keen interest in photographing sharks in their environment and has volunteered with various shark labs to work in shark research. Anna also loves music and singing and will regularly attend mic nights for a relaxing evening of fun.
