The Ecological Society of America SEEDS (Strategies for Ecology Education, Diversity and Sustainability) program, which is a mentoring program for college students, hosted a field trip on Nov. 4, 2016, in St. Augustine for a diverse group of students from several institutions in Florida. The field trip featured a panel of ecology professionals who shared their career and career journey experiences.

Three Whitney Laboratory team members participated in the panel, including Assistant Professor of Biogeochemistry Todd Osborne, Sea Turtle Hospital Program Coordinator Catherine Eastman and Research Scientist Jose Nunez. At the event, the students had an opportunity to find out more about what ecologists do through hands-on experiences and interactions with the professionals. The Whitney Lab team members who attended the event were honored to share their stories and hopefully inspired the students to become future ecologists.
