Last week, members of the Whitney Laboratory team attended the 2016 Meeting of the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS). The event was held in Long Beach, California. Pictured here from left to right is Anya Jacquez (2016 REU student), Joseph Ryan (Whitney faculty) and Alexandra Hernandez (Whitney Ph.D. student).

The purpose of the conference is to motivate, inspire and engage participants to achieve their highest goals in pursuing education and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields. Conference programming is specifically tailored to support undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and career professionals at each transition stage of their career as they move toward positions of science leadership.
