Cutting-edge research by Dr. David Duffy, courtesy faculty at Whitney Laboratory and former postdoc in the Martindale Lab, and the Sea Turtle Hospital at Whitney Laboratory team has been covered by UF News and Science.
The study that appeared online today in Communications Biology titled “Sea turtle fibropapilloma tumors share genomic drivers and therapeutic vulnerabilities with human cancers” highlights research that shows fibropapillomatosis tumors have similarities to types of human cancer, enabling a turtle’s tumors to be treated with human anti-cancer therapeutics.
Congratulations to Dr. Duffy and the Sea Turtle Hospital at Whitney Laboratory team!
