Dr. Mark Martindale Visits the Academia Sinica in Taipei, named ACC member for ICOB

Dr. Mark Q. Martindale recently returned from a site visit of the Academia Sinica in Taipei (Taiwan). The Academia is the national PhD training research institute that consistently ranks in the Reuters top 20 “Most Innovative International Research Institutions” in life and physical sciences.
Martindale was invited by President of the Academia Dr. James C. Liao, the Parsons Foundation Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles, to be a member of the Academic Advisory Committee (ACC) for the Institute of Cellular and Organismic Biology (ICOB). The ACC is comprised of a prestigious group of international scientists charged with evaluation of faculty and programmatic initiatives of the Institute. Martindale’s term on the ACC runs through 2025.
In addition to Martindale’s scientific expertise in EvoDevo (the field of understanding the role of embryonic development on the evolutionary change of organisms in the history of Earth), he brings experience in leading marine stations from his success reinvigorating the Whitney lab over the past decade. In this capacity, Martindale will participate in programmatic planning for expansion of the Academia’s Marine Research Station (MRS), founded in 1997.
