The Bailey-Niblett Family Endowment helped fund Erin Marshall's trip to the American Society of Pharmacognosy Annual Meeting in Rockville, Maryland. The meeting shares advances in the field of natural product and botanical chemistry to aid in the discovery of novel and/or bioactive compounds

"Here I met and discussed my research with my peers and attended talks aimed at sharing advances in discovery, isolation, and characterization of compounds produced from natural sources. I was able to interact with other scientists from related fields, such as those that study the compounds produced by sea snails, botanicals, and cyanobacteria, and expand my understanding of the diverse nature of the field of natural product chemistry", said Erin. "I was able to network which is highly valuable to a fourth year graduate student as I will be seeking job opportunities in the near future."

Erin Marshall is a fourth year PhD Candidate in Chemistry at Whitney Lab and is investigating compounds produced from Arctic Ocean bacteria and their bioactivity against human disease including infections, cancer, and chronic pain.

The Bailey-Niblett Family Endowment assists in funding for research projects and travel for graduate students, postdoctoral research associates and pre-tenured faculty at the Whitney Laboratory.

Thank you to the Bailey-Niblett Family Endowment for providing funding for this opportunity!
