Welcome to our newest team member summer intern, Soleil Von Hausch!

Soleil is a St. Augustine Native, who obtained a love of the ocean while growing up near the beach. Currently, she is a rising junior marine biology major at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and is also pursuing a certificate in the university's Marine Option Program. Previously, she volunteered as a data collector for the non-profit Malama Pupukea-Waimea at Shark’s Cove, Haleiwa Hawaii, where she monitored reef damage.

Recently, she has been a spring intern at the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology’s Marine Mammal Research Program as an analyst for auditory Hawaiian toothed whale data. She plans to continue this internship in the upcoming fall. Additionally, she is a writer for her university’s Marine Option Program’s magazine in her free time. In the future, she looks forward to participating in field work with the Marine Mammal Research Program by assisting in marine mammal observations. Soleil is excited to explore different facets of marine science while working with our Animal Care team and hopes to discover her future career goals in the process.
